Svetlana Harris

I am a concert artist with multiple master’s degrees and a special certificate for teaching children.

My studio includes students of all ages, and I treat each student on an individual basis according to his or her strengths and goals. I have students from Bakersfield, Visalia, Porterville, Lindsay, Selma, Exeter, Hanford and more. I also have students who travel from other parts of the state as well as from other states to take lessons. My students have gone on to win local and state competitions, and many have been accepted into music programs ranging from performing arts high schools, to master classes, to competitive college and university programs.

I have performed and recorded on radio, on television, and on the concert stage both nationally and internationally, and I have visited many schools, colleges and universities performing as Solo Pianist, Accompanist, Choral Conductor, and Vocal Soloist to benefit students’ musical education and to expose Youth to fine Arts. I have also served as Adjudicator for county competitions including the Tulare County Young Soloist Competition and the CMEA Bakersfield competition.

I began performing and competing on the piano winning my first State Gold Medal at 9 years of age. Among my many mentors was a prize winner of the International Chopin Piano Competition – another won the Callas prize. I was invited to accompany Russian mezzo Soprano Natalia Kirichenko at La Scala in Italy for her concert series. I have performed as pianist on PBS. For the last two decades I have performed and recorded regularly with my sister-in-law Tracy Harris, a Yamaha Performing Flute artist. I am also the Pianist for the acclaimed Tracy Harris Annual Master Class, and for the national Tracy Harris FluteBoot Camp series.

Tracy and I premiered the TCSO commissioned Flute and piano Concerto composed by Dr. Todd Harris in 2010, at the Visalia Fox theatre, and I performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto #23 in 2011 with the Symphony as well.

I have also performed with Yamaha Artists Jim Walker, Mary Karen Clardy, Miramatsu Artist John Barcellona, Miyasawa Artist Tadeu Coelho, and Powell Artists Cynthia Eliss and Nicola Mazzanti. I was a featured performer at the NFA Convention and I have performed for the benefit of numerous national charitable foundations.

My latest album, “Eklectick,” contains brand new arrangements of Chopin, Schubert, Bach, Saint-Saens, and more. You can also hear me playing them live online on my website at

I am the piano editor for my husband Dr. Todd Harris’ “The Lyric Flutist,” just published by Wingert-Jones and released in Washington, DC at the NFA convention in 2015. You can hear me playing them as published on the JW Pepper website.

Every day I help people of all ages and experience levels improve their lives through music. I look forward to meeting and speaking with you to see how we can work together to help you and your children’s musical aspirations a reality.
